It is a duo of Leszek Mozdzer and Lars Danielsson with unique lyrical feeling of European musician. Mozdzer perform very lyrical play compared to his usual.

It can be regarded as a masterpiece of Danielsson and Mozdzer!
It is very sophisticated and refined sound, so even the fans of classical music may like this.
Lars Danielsson is a representative bassist of Sweden. while Leszek Mozdzer is very expected pianist from Poland, who became famous for his play of the Chopin's compositions.
It is the collaboration of the northern European feeling and the eastern European feeling. I can say it is the typical style of European-jazz fans like.
The leader is Lars Danielsson, therefore the play of bassist is featured well. Nine tunes among 14 are the composition of Lars Danielsson. It's lucky for me because Lars's compositions are very amiable and easy to listen.
This work is good because Mozdzer performs very emotional play than usual. I think Mozdzer's usual play is more mechanical and impersonal.
What I feel every time I listen Mozdzer's play is that he has extremely dexterous pianist. Sometimes he looks like Keith Jarret and other time he looks like Chick Corea.
It is also interesting that some unique instrument, such as the celesta and the harmonium are used. The celesta is a kind of keyboard instrument and the harmonium is a kind of the organ.
The recording quality of ACM is not bad.
By the way the "passodoble" means a style of Spanish music that used in bullring. But note that this album does not especially have a Spanish feeling.

---pick up----
1. Praying
Very beautiful and emotional waltzs with feeling like it stings our hearts. I can like this album only for this song.
The introduction uses harmonics of bass in up tempo. The bass plays the first theme. Then they plays theme in unison.
Actually, such beautifulness and lyrics performance is supported by extremely high level of technique of them. I can never see any kind of disarray for their play.
Actually, such beautifulness and lylics performance is supported by extremely high level of technic of them. I can never see any kind of dissarray for their play.
2. Fellow
It gives us a comfort. Typical style of the Lars Danielsson.
The theme is simple one that uses the unison of the bass and the piano in low tone.
3. Entrance
Very calm. more comfort than Fellow. It is also Lars's composition.
4. Prado
syncopated beat.
The bass employes arco play in theme. It is unison with the piano.
The harmonium is played a little bit.
5. Pasodoble
It is powerful and spiritual tune. I guess Mozdzer play using the piano with some cloths stucked in piano wire. It is triple time in up tempo. Mozdzer's play reminds me a Chick Corea's play with Spanish feeling.
6. Daughter's Joy
Mysterious tune.
7. It's Easy with You
It is the composition of Mozdzer. But the bass is featured well. Lars shows us very uplifted bass solo.
8.Hydrospeed
It the usual style of Mozdzer!
9.Reminder
Sad song. I can feel Lars's soul.
11. Follow My Backlights
It is like a "socery" by Charles Lloyd's band.
12. Eja Mitt Hjarta
Folksong.
The harmonics is performed.

It is the real Paul Motian (Conception Vessel)

Conception Vessel
(2001/05/22)
Paul Motian

A recording of PAUL MOTIAN as a LEADER. This is the very real nature of Pual Motian. In this recording, Keith Jarrett is participating with flute!!
All compoded by Paul Motian

1973 ECM
"ALL COMPOSED BY PAUL MOTIAN". In other words, all tunes is free JAZZ.
The bassist is Charlie Haden.
Member and their instruments differ from according to the number. One number is a solo play by Paul Motian.
Keith Jarrett is participating with the flute as well as the piano.
The album title is a name of a tune where the Paul Motian and Keith Jarrett play in duo. Only is popular Keith playing the piano and did Manfred Eicher make it to the album title name? If it is so, it is regrettable.
PickUp
2. CH'I ENERGY
Paul Motian' solo. Please be satisfied with completely opened Paul Motian . Real Paul!
3. Rebica
It is basically free. Paul and Charlie Haden play very freely. There is no an assetive story making that most free jazz performance tends to go into. It is very natural. When becoming tired on our business, it heals us.
4. Conception Vessel
Duo of Paul Motian and Keith (p). I think it is the worst tune in this work. Keith makes too much sounds compared to Paul. So only the piano sound by Keith in this tune is annoying when we listen to the whole album.
Keith must have played this as a free JAZZ, but it is a common material which we can see in other Keith's recordings at this age. Therefore Keith's performance doesn't have freshness. It seems like that he reused the material of his improvisation that was spent in other old works because he thought the recording of Paul Motian would not be sold well.
(Here, I have to inform you, Keith Jarret is actually one of thw my favorite pianists . )
5. American Indian: Song Of Sitting Bull
Duo by Paul Motian and Keith (flute). The flute play of Keith sounds like the bamboo flute. It is hard to understand that it is the sound of flute, if we are not told that it is flute. Possibly it might be a kind of "rhetoric" by Kieth. It is better for this album than the previous piano, from the viewpoint whether it matches the concept of this whole album.
6. Inspiration from a Vietnamese Lullaby
There is a violin participation.

The joint play of Phil Woods and Enrico Pieranunzi!

phil's moodPhil's Mood
(1994/11/07)
Phil Woods & Space Jazz Trio

The excellent performance of Phil Woods and Enrico Pieranunzi. All tunes are Enrico Pieranunzi's composition. Thieir play is very exciting!

Recommendation Level by Green Jazz 3

Although Enrico Pieranunzi conjures up images of "Piano trio" and "European Jazz", there are some recordings performed in the quartet of horn musicians from United States.
It must be a very interesting point for his funs what kinds of performance he does with American musician.
Actually this is unexpectedly is good!
Phil Woods is a musician who had taken the essence of new trend like the “mode” and “Free Jazz". Even he is usually thought to be a bebop musician; we can not fined find any sense of incompatibility between that new essence and his original nature.
Regarding the musical character of two, they are quite different between Phil Woods and Enrico Pieranunzi. But in this recording, their characters melt into each other in good shape.
The flexible character of Phil Woods and the skillful interplay of Enrico Pieanunzi are helping this.
All tunes are composed by Enrico Pieranunzi including his popular number like New Land, Chet, Blue Ballad, and Hindsight, etc.
It was at 1988 that this was performed. Phil Woods was born in 1931 and he was 57 years old at this time. It is amazing that Phil Woods, who had been an authority of jazz since earlier age of jazz, adopted the composition of young European musician, and performed them with deep understanding for them. To tell the truth, I sometimes feel the play of Phil Woods is a little annoying because he has too much appeal. However, I can respect him because he always accepts the new essence of new music rather than despises them, besides he always seems happy when he plays the music of new era.
I think it is rather normal even if Phil were more arrogant because he has excellent talent and many achievements.
The most attractive point of this recording is that Pieranunzi plays very happily. We can feel his spirit. He must have wanted to appeal to Phil Woos who was a great predecessor of jazz.
In addition, Phil had recorded his album using Pieranunzi’s composition exclusively. It must be a kind of emotional thing for him.
As results, we can hear a lot of vigorous performance of Pieranunzi in this album. It is killing for Pieranunzi’s fans. Backing play is also excellent.

1988 PHILOLOGY
------------
Pick up
1.New Lands
Up-tempo rhythms, but their play is very accurate.
In the latter part, base and drums stop and Phil Woods and Enrico Pieranunzi play in only two. After this, they enter the ending theme perfectly. This is terribly skilful.
2. Night Bird
It is a kind of four beat commonly heard in the 80 year. The peculiar sense of rhythm of Pieranunzi in his improvisation is very good.
3. Chet
A piece of music to be beautiful shade
This name of a song might have been taken from Chet Baker though I have not confirmed.
It is lyrical, with unique sense of beauty by Pieranunzi
However, Phil Woods is also singing such a tune well. It is admirable.
Of course, we can never find the fault in Peranunzi’s play because it was composed by himself.
7. Hindsight
Woods plays the clarinet. This is good in the atmosphere of this tune.
